KHURSHID Ahmed states he would like to win the hearts and minds of Dudley borough residents concerning a new site for a mosque/community centre, a strange way of achieving that after the rejection of the Hall Street site.

He states that objections were influenced by right wing extremists and democracy is dead.

What rubbish! 22,000 Dudley residents had sense to realise how out of place such a large building would be in our medieval and historical town, bringing no revenue whatsoever into the borough.

I would suggest to Dudley Muslim Association to redirect their efforts and finances, which they seem able to raise to Muslim countries such as Afghanistan and Pakistan etc where children are in desperate need of hospitals, clinics, schools etc.

Perhaps Khurshid Ahmed and Co would consider refurbishment of mosques already in use which are more than adequate for the percentage of Muslims who use these places.

Surplus funds could then be redirected for more deserving causes.

As regards to the community/leisure centre, why has this got to be under a Muslim umbrella?

After the closure of Brierley Hill leisure centre, the least Dudley Council could do is build a new one to fulfil everyone's needs, independent of any religious or political organisation.

Lastly what everyone would like to know - who authorised the sale of the Hall Street site knowing full well it was for industrial job creation use only and why did the Muslim Association buy it?
