I HAVE waited all week, watching diligently for replies or letters to that dreadful article printed about Darcus Howe in the Express and Star and his infliction on our society here in Dudley.

One of the few comforts I have these days is to follow local news in your paper and I have usually not been too disappointed with the clear and fair outlook your editor expresses on behalf of us, your readers.

This shameful exploitation of the Dudley people and their hospitality was certainly not portrayed in this instance.

I have not hidden my praise for Malcolm Davis and what he has tried to do on behalf of the people but of late have been upset by what seems to me a conspiracy of silence with the hope, from all of you, that he will go away quietly and not disturb the balance of ritual political dominance suffered for so long here in Dudley.

I could not believe my own eyes when I read in a leaflet delivered by UKIP, how the man Khurshid Ahmed, while cavorting as a non-political representative of tiny minority two and a half per cent, was selected for many paid positions in the council while holding the executive position of chairman of the whole Dudley North constituency under the guidance of our MP Ian Austin for the Labour Party.

As if this were not bad enough you, the Dudley News, published many insulting, untruthful letters directed at Malcolm Davis with no opportunity given for reply regarding the proposed mosque!

I found the words of Darcus Howe both offensive and racist and have made a formal complaint to the police.

While I have been told by the police there is no criminal matter to answer I find it totally abhorrent that the E&S, as our local paper, have supported such a racist indignation directed at Malcolm Davis that could have damaged the chances UKIP had of getting Dudley back on track.

You all took advantage of the huge amount of interest generated throughout the mosque saga and are now all eager to condemn him for his honest outspokenness.

We have waited a long time for a real champion of the people and it is such a pity that so many of you decided not to embrace this opportunity, possibly the last one, Dudley will ever get.
