AFTER reading the letters published in Dudley News on April 24 I feel sad that there are so many narrowminded people in Dudley.
I think they feel scared of anything new, no wonder Dudley is turning into a dump!
I believe everyone has the right to choose their religion and worship where they want.
I feel the mosque would add to Dudley's history, after all Muslims are British citizens too.
So why not have a civilised debate about how we can integrate the mosque into the town and thus reflect the mixed and diverse heritage of its residents without so much hostility and hatred?
Also those who like to blow their trumpet about Great Britain (Mr J Morton, letter published April 24) frequently forget to mention how it systematically stole much of it's wealth through it's Empire which was based on the principle of divide and conquer, raped many a country of it's resources be they minerals or humans (slaves).
But does this behaviour justify labelling all British Christians as thieves and low lives?
Certainly not, therefore Mr J Morton needs a reality check. There are bad individuals in all communities but no one community is homogeneous and it is truly unfair to tarnish whole religious groups with the same brush.
Wake up and live in 2007!! Integration and living in harmony is surely a good thing.
Malcolm Davis simply does not want this he believes Muslims have no place in Dudley and finds much support judging by his campaign leaflet amongst elderly people who do not know much better.
It seems as long as the white working class remain ignorant and afraid of people with different beliefs and values individuals like Malcolm Davis will use it as an excuse to further their political careers.
On a more lighter note I think most people have seen through the so called UKIP Threat' (quote from Mr P Rowe April 24 letter) by not electing any of their candidates.
