IN reply to Steve Nicholls point of view (Dudley News June 7).
How dare you suggest that everyone who goes to college is a lazy, scrounging, idle layabout.
I have a son who is at college studying for his A levels not because he didn't pay attention at school - he did well in his GCSEs so was ABLE to carry on in further education.
For your information he doesn't live off Mom and Dad's benefits because WE DON'T GET ANY - we both work to support our three children.
To get his pocket money he works at McDonalds on evenings, weekends and school holidays.
So I suggest you don't tar everyone with the same brush!
I hope that when you next go to see your doctor, dentist or take your grandchildren to school you will appreciate that some young people decide to further their education and so benefits you.
Because we are not in "the good old days" now you can't just walk into any job you please - employers expect academic qualifications.
A very proud Mom & Dad
