YOUR report about four cats being shot dead in the June 14 issue (Four cats shot dead by airgun') made very sad reading!
However, while I cannot condone this action in any shape or form, being a cat lover myself, a lot of blame must attach itself to the owners themselves by not training their cats not to be too territorial in as much by turning them out at night to roam and scratch up people's gardens to do their business in and in general be a nuisance to close neighbours by screeching and wailing all through the night.
Do not people realise that it's an old wives tale about putting the cat out at night instead of letting it stay indoors in a nice warm environment with a tray of cat litter?
Then they do not become a nuisance to anybody and can then be tolerated in a more natural understanding by their neighbours.
Quite simply if your cats didn't become a nuisance in any shape or form then nobody would be tempted to harm them with air rifles or any other means.
