I UNDERSTAND from comments in your paper that David Caunt has stated it could cost 100k to defend the appeal by Khurshid Ahmed against the planning refusal for the mosque, which was refused on the basis that the land was earmarked under EE2 as a brownfield site which is for industrial use only, and was not to pacify a small racist minority that Khurshid Ahmed claimed.

Surely that decision should be sacrosanct, and any appeal wherever it is heard should uphold the council decision which was made after the wishes of 23,000 people were made known by Councillor Malcolm Davis who I think has been treated disgustingly after his hard work for the community. Furthermore, if it is likely to cost us council tax payers 100k to defend, what is it going to cost the DMA, or will they have another handout from Councillor Caunt and his merry men to foot the bill?

Perhaps Mr Caunt should seek the backing of Malcolm Davis to organise the fight against their appeal.

In any court case or tribunal action, the loser pays the costs, so does that tell us that Councillor Caunt is already capitulating in favour of the DMA, because he is alleged to have had a hand in the GIFT of the land to them.
