I MAY be missing some point or other but I can see no "Victory" in the fact car parking charges are still made at all. It seems to me the public are being conned by local and national governments in trying to convince us that by reducing the charges we have won a concession.
Like all commodities the price starts high and when people don't buy or complain, the profiteers make a so-called concession and bring the price down. Thus most people have the wool pulled over their eyes and accept it as a success.
The public pay in many different forms of taxation. Why then do we accept that any parking charges should be made at all?
This when friends and loved ones either have to visit or are being visited whilst receiving NHS medical care, this is our right not a concession.
This NHS is not and should not be deemed a"business" where profits and losses are taken into account. The sooner government accept this the better for us all.
