FANS of the fry-up can pick Britain's best breakfast cafe in a national competition for workers who bring home the bacon.

The vote is being organised by SIG Roofing and its local branch, in Dudley, formerly known as Wedge Roofing Centre, will be supporting cafes in their bid to win the title.

When votes are counted at the end of October, 14 regional winners will be announced with the national winner revealed a month later.

There are around 6,000 cafes in the UK which serve up the food to help the nation's army of tradespeople get set for a day's hard graft.

SIG Roofing branch manager, Peter Goodson, said: “We think roofers and local contractors are the best people to judge what makes a great cafe, but we want everyone to join in the fun – that’s why we’ve opened up the voting to the general public.

"Our customers work hard and start early, so they’re always on the lookout for a local cafe with cheery, friendly staff which serves a great British breakfast.”

Voting forms will be available in cafes and the campaign is being supported by RCI (Roofing, Cladding & Insulation) Magazine.

Regional winners will be invited to an awards ceremony and the overall winner and their partner will win a holiday in New York.

Voting opens on Monday September 5, for more information visit britainsbestcafe.co.uk
