Family fun with Winnie the Pooh at Sussex hotel

ESCAPE with your children this summer holiday to the countryside which inspired A. A. Milne to write his delightful stories about Winnie-the-Pooh and take a midweek family break at Buxted Park Hotel in Ashdown Forest, East Sussex.

The hotel is offering a special Pooh adventure package from just £140 per room per night based on two parents sharing including dinner, bed and breakfast, a glass of pre-dinner champagne and canapés and free overnight stays in the same room for children under the age of 12.

Each child will receive a Winnie-the-Pooh bag of goodies including a bundle of Poohsticks, a copy of a Pooh story and for the adults, a guide to finding the famous Pooh Bridge.

And to make your visit that extra bit special, the hotel is offering a Pooh Bear tea-time treat for families on arrival.

Parents can sample a quintessential afternoon tea including finger sandwiches, scones and homemade cakes from just £12.50 per person, while children can be like Pooh himself and enjoy a scrumptious honey tea for just £6.50 each including finger sandwiches, gingerbread men, fairy cakes and fruit smoothie.

Visit the famous Poohsticks Bridge, a short drive from the hotel, where children can use their Poohsticks where the bear stuffed-with-fluff played with Piglet and friends. The bridge is considered to be the one on which A.A. Milne and his son first played the game.

Order a delicious picnic from Buxted Park Hotel and head off to explore Ashdown Forest and discover Five Hundred Acre Wood, the area that provided inspiration for many of the locations mentioned in the book, including Pooh’s fictional home One Hundred Acre Wood and the captivating Enchanted Place.

For those wanting to treasure even more memories of Pooh Bear, why not visit the Pooh Corner Shop in the High Street of nearby Hartfield village? Home to the world’s largest selection of all things Winnie-the-Pooh including gifts, toys and games, the shop is also where Pooh’s companion Christopher Robin used to visit with Nanny Alice to buy candy.

Built in 1722, Buxted Park Hotel is set in 312 acres of private grounds and parkland, which includes three large lakes, a deer park and a walled garden and has played host to figures of history including William Wordsworth, Winston Churchill and Marlon Brando.

The exquisite four star hotel offers 44 luxury bedrooms and a two Rosette restaurant offering delicious seasonal and regional cuisine as well as a delightful children’s menu.

The offer is subject to availability until September 7. To book contact 0845 458 0905 or visit www.handpickedhotels.co.uk.
