HALESOWEN Cycling Club’s Matt Clarke brought the curtain down on a cracking season when claiming 22nd spot in the National Hill Climb Championships.

Competing in a massive 150 strong field, Clarke clocked two minutes 46 seconds for the demanding 947-yard course, some 25 seconds down on winner Jack Pullar who crossed in 2.21.

Clarke will now take a brief break from action before commencing training for 2013 when he intends to be racing at premier calendar events.
