Impressive Collins earns county call-up

STOURBRIDGE runner Louise Collins finished a fantastic fifth at the Worcestershire Cross-Country Championships.

Collins, who races for Stourbridge Running Club, recorded a time of 27 minutes 49 seconds in muddy conditions at Malvern Common and has now been selected to run for Worcestershire in the Inter-Counties Championship this March.

Next Stourbridge woman home was Joan Clarke in 31.09, while Natalie Dellar posted a time of 36.07 as the Stour’s women finished fifth in the team event.

That was the same position as the men, for who Matt Giles recoreded a fastest time of 40.21.

Meanwhile, the club are appealing for entries to the annual Stourbridge Stagger Race.

The 10-mile multi-terrain event is held at Mary Stevens Park on February 3. Ladies have the option of running the shorter seven-kilometre race.
