REIGNING Knock-Out Cup holders Baggeridge Social saw their hopes of retaining the crown ended by Brierley Hill Sports Bar A.
The Second Division outfit looked like protecting their 209-point handicap advantage over the Premier Division side after the first two frames.
But Callum Downing and Matt Whale clawed back most of the deficit for Brierley Hill, before John Pritchett saw them home.
Elsewhere, Amblecote Institute B stunned West Midlands Police. The Institute had a 157-point advantage going into the clash and though the Police turned things around to lead by 15 going into the final frame, Matt Johnson’s win took his side to a famous victory.
The closest finish of the round saw Wombourne veteran John Wooldridge sink the final pink to earn his side victory over Kinver Constitutional B.
Kinver’s C team had no answer to the powerful start produced by Paul Bowen and Steve Howell, who put Netherton Sports and Social into an unassailable lead.
First Division Dibdale SC, without a league win so far, held Amblecote Institute D for the first four frames but Mark Daniels made sure for the Institute in the last end.
Kingswinford Cons B fought their way past Amblecote Institute E, though Kingswinford’s A team were knocked out by Kingswinford RBL. Mike Rizzo’s 96 point win formed the platform for Snooks SCA’s triumph at Stourbridge Institute A.
In the Plate competition, Hotshots overturned a 192 point handicap against Kinver Constitutional D, thanks to big wins from Neil Beckley and Dave Green.
Kinver Constitutional A took revenge for a recent league defeat by Amblecote Institute A, while another all-Premier Division clash saw Pockets SC A breeze past the challenge of Snooks B with John Betton and Andy Smith both bagging half century breaks.
