Kings fight back to beat Bloxwich

A STIRRING comeback saw Kingswinford Hockey Club beat Bloxwich 5-4 to keep their promotion charge on track.
The visitors found themselves 3-1 down in the first half but battled back to claim a vital win.
After a frenetic opening it was Kings who took the lead when Ajay Sandhu fired home from an acute angle.
But Bloxwich then took control, scoring three times in quick succession before Cole Hickman got what proved to be a crucial goal on the stroke of half-time to reduce the deficit.
Kings equalised almost immediately after the after the break through Gary Oates and with momentum on their side, scored twice more, with Damon Johal getting both.
With ten minutes to go Bloxwich set up a tense finale by pulling one back but Kings held out for the win.
The second XI had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Kidderminster.
Sarj Takhar and Jas Bhadal bamboozled the home defence in the early stages, with the former twice hitting the woodwork.
But they couldn’t find the breakthrough and instead it was Kidderminster took the lead early in the second half, capitalising on a defensive lapse.
The hosts put 11 men behind the ball as they fought to hang on but in the final minute Jas Bhadal deflected Takhar’s shot from a short corner past the keeper to salvage a point.
