CHAIRMAN Kevin Williams says Gornal will do all they can to keep hold of manager Ian Rowe.

The boss has rightly received most of the credit for the Peacocks impressive rise in the last two-and-a-half years.

And while a trip to Wembley may no longer be on the menu after Saturday’s loss in County Durham, Williams says keeping hold of Rowe is a key priority for the club.

But with the manager’s profile rising all the time as his side continue to impress on the pitch, he accepts this may be no easy task.

He said: “If a club from higher up the pyramid came calling I think we would struggle to keep him.

“We know this is a possibility and we would obviously do everything we could to keep hold of him.

“It’s a case of putting a package together which will encourage him to stay.

“When Ian arrived at the club we had a five year plan which we’ve achieved in less than three.

“He has exceeded all our expectations and it’s up to us as a club to keep up with him.

“We have to work hard to get the ground up to standard so we can look at promotion next season.”

Williams admits he dared to dream when the Peacocks went in at the break tied at 1-1 on Saturday.

He said: “I really thought it might be our day.

“But in the last half-an-hour they took over.

“As I said to Ian, it’s a credit we have got this far in the competition. Now we must concentrate on finishing strong in the league.

“I hope the games we have lost don’t catch up with us.”
