Brierley Hill tighten their grip

BRIERLEY Hill Sports Bar A tightened their grip on the Stourbridge Snooker League with a 4-1 win over Snooks B.

The Premier Division leaders, who have only lost once in 20 games, maintained their nine-point lead over Norton Social A who beat Kinver Constitutional A by the same scoreline.

West Midlands Police, in fourth place, closed to within a point of Kinver with a 4-1 win against Brierley Hill B. Kev Franklin was on top form with breaks of 73 and 59.

Milan Krstanovic, with a break of 60, took the decider for Hotshots of Langley at home to Pockets SC A.

In another close match, Rick Wooldridge just edged the result for Amblecote Institute A away to Brierley Hill C.

In a battle of two teams in the relegation zone, Pockets B came from a frame down to beat Stourbridge Institute A 4-1 thanks to wins for Gavin Evans, Dave Timmington, Bob Moran and Danny Rees.

First Division leaders Kingswinford RBL were stunned 3-2 at home by lowly Norton Social B.

Anthony Davies gave the leaders a fine start but Jamie Cartwright, Barry Tromans and Paul Hipkiss won for second-from-bottom side.

However, Andrew Brown took the last end for the Legion, who now have a three point lead with three games to play.

Netherton Sports and Social, who have a game in hand, are their nearest challengers after a 4-1 win away to Kinver Constitutional B.

Third-placed Amblecote RBL won 3-2 at home to Brierley Hill D to remain three points further adrift.

Kingswinford Snooker Centre are nine-points off the top after a 4-1 win at lowly Dibdale and Kingswinford Cons A stay fifth after a 4-1 win at Wombourne.

Amblecote Institute B returned to the top six with a 3-2 success against Kinver Constitutional C, Mick Cook in particularly good touch with breaks of 36 and 40.

Baggeridge Social and Kinver Constitutional D are still separated by just a single point at the top of the Second Division as both enjoyed 4-1 home wins.

Frankie Bennett, Ryan Allmark, Luke Whale and Matt Whale earned Baggeridge’s victory over Amblecote Institute D, while Kinver were too strong for Amblecote’s E team.

Stourbridge Institute C are six points off the top after a 3-2 win away to Amblecote’s C team.
