Pedmore pull off a prized seven wicket win

PEDMORE pulled off a precious seven wicket win over Worcester CC - a result which should go a long way towards ensuring their Worcester County League Division One status next season.
Solid batting saw Worcester post an imposing total of 223 for seven thanks mainly to Liam Weston and Rob Goodman who both scored 62 not out.
But they were upstaged in reply as prolific opening batsman Danny McDonnell made 80 while Dave Skelding struck a further 65 as Pedmore breezed to a winning 224 for three with 17 overs to spare.
Belbroughton should also have enough points in the bag after they finished with a losing draw against Pershore.
Pershore piled on the runs to reach 246 for nine with Dave White 60, Chris Ridings 57 and Brendan Adams on 44 providing the bulk of that total.
Belbroughton responded with 209 for eight, Geoff Day supplying top score of 54 while skipper Will Pardoe plundered a further 45.
They helped Belbroughton pick up nine bonus points which should keep them clear of the drop zone.
Hagley’s run of poor form continued as they crashed to a nine wicket defeat against Bromyard.
Simon James struck 56 with the bat, but lacked sufficient support as Hagley were removed for 160 all out with Zahid Saeed and Will Yarnold both helping themselves to four wickets.
Former Sri Lankan test player Dinusha Fernando then fired an unbeaten 81 not out in reply as Bromyard cantered to a winning 164 for one in just 25.4 overs.
Oldswinford have long been resigned to relegation and suffered another heavy reverse when losing out by eight wickets to Droitwich.
Skipper Tom Blunt made 43 while Wayne Brigdale added 31 as Oldswinford reached 149 all out.
Droitwich made light of their target in reply, racing to 152 for two from just 23 overs, South African Mauritz Van Straten scoring 73 not out while Max Young made 54.
