Players turn out for memorial match
9:39am Thursday 26th September 2013 in Sport
THE second annual Richard Beaumont memorial match between a combined Pedmore/Romsley/Hagley team and a Worcestershire Cricket League Select XI took place at Pedmore.
With half-centuries from Dan Jeavons and Wasim Ashiq, the visitors posted 270 which proved too much for the home side despite a 50 from Gary Pickering.
The visitors win avenged their defeat of last season and their captain John Summers of Astwood Bank accepted the trophy, kindly donated by Mike Buckley, from Richard’s son five-year-old son Harley.
Donations received on the day will go into the Richard Beaumont Foundation the aims of which are to involve more youngsters in sport.
Hagley’s Joe Lennon was the man-of-the-match with 3-34 and 38.
