Big week for Heathens
2:42pm Monday 28th October 2013 in Sport
NATIONAL League champions Dudley Heathens are set to end the season in style – with a mouthwatering Knockout Cup Final showdown against Isle of Wight Islanders.
The sides will do battle at Wolverhampton on Tuesday for Dudley’s home leg with the return at Smallbrook Stadium on Wednesday.
And a great atmosphere is expected at both meetings with plenty of Heathens fans set to sail across to Ryde on Wednesday.
A bumper crowd is expected at Monmore Green on Tuesday for the final Heathens home meeting of what has been an amazing campaign which has seen the former Cradley club lift the National League title, Pairs, Fours and Shield.
The team will display the National League championship trophy before the meeting which will be handed over by the Mayor of Dudley.
Heathens boss Will Pottinger said: “It would be a dream come true for us to complete the clean sweep. It’s been a remarkable season, especially when you consider we had to tear apart last season’s team which went so close to winning the league.
“Hopefully we can get a good lead at Monmore on Tuesday to take down to the Island on Wednesday for us to defend.
“It worked for us in the play-offs when we took a 13-point lead against King’s Lynn and defended it the following night.”
Heathens have pegged admission prices for the Cup Final and season tickets are valid. Admission is £11 adults, £8 concessions and £3 children.
