Premier Div report: The joint leaders of the Premier Division both impressed with 4-1 victories;

Hotshots SC of Langley beat 3rd placed Pockets SC A 4-1 thanks to Neil Beckley, Roy Stokes, Milan Krstanovic, with a 57 break & Dave Green, whose 39 break made it 6/6 wins for the season, inflicting the first defeat on John Betton.

Andy Smith took the frame for Pockets, now 7 points adrift of the leading pair.

Pete Gibbons of West Midland Police is also undefeated as he, Carl Southwick, Gavin Sloan, with visits of 39 & 56, and Kev Franklin, with the help of a 42 break, matched Hotshots’ result against Kingswinford RBL A. Anthony Davies took some consolation for the Legion.

Amblecote Inst A eased into a share of 4th place with a good 3-2 win on the tables of Brandhall Labour, Rob Clark, Dan Petch & Dave Oakes on the mark, and Netherton Sports & Social maintained their bright start with a 3-2 win at Pockets SC B to also lie 4th. Rich Barnsley, Paul Bowen & Andy Barnett, with a fine black ball finish, won for Netherton, while Pockets’ Danny Rees had to come back from 35 points behind against Steve Howell, to preserve his unbeaten record.

Moor Pool & Snooker A won their first match, in some style too, taking all five frames against their B team. Warren Knight, Chris Price, Adam Kensett, Mike Richards & Jack Trueman bowling them over.

First Div report: The top four sides in the first Division won with Amblecote Inst A still leading by a single point after beating Stourbridge Inst A 4-1. Cary Homer, Adam Coley, Sam Harrison & Matt Johnson won after Mick Cook’s black ball defeat by Paul Bates.

Moor Pool & Snooker C won 4-1 at home to Kingswinford Cons A with Steve Tranter doing well to beat Wayne Whitmore, and they are a point ahead of 3rd placed Stourbridge Inst B who enjoyed their best result of the season with a 4-1 win at Baggeridge Social. Chris Crumpton, Mark Hatton, Alan Cope & Jon Bate won with Luke Whale taking a consolation frame for the hosts.

There’s just another point back to the 4th placed team, Kinver Const A who pipped their C team 3-2 thanks to Arnie Tromans’ black ball decider. Earlier, the C team’s Graham Tranter made it 6 wins out of six, the only player in the division with a perfect record.

John Cowan, Thomas Male, & John Byng combined for Kingswinford SC to win 3-2 away to Amblecote RBL A, lifting themselves off the foot of a closely-grouped league, while Wombourne just got the better of Kinver’s B team 3-2 thanks to John Wooldridge, Bob Mason & Stuart Taylor.

Second Div report: After losing their first match last week, Norton Social B recovered their poise with a 3-2 win away to Amblecote Inst E. Joe Davies, the unbeaten Luke Grosvenor, and Pete Cairns won, with Stephen Taylor & his sister, Louise, replying for the home team.

Norton’s advantage was trimmed to two points, however as Kingswinford Cons B dropped only one frame, Dave Woodall’s debut success for Kingswinford RBL B. Sam Smith continued his strong, unbeaten return to the Cons team.

Third placed Dibdale SC won 4-1 away to Kingswinford Cons C, Laurence Binfield, Gary Skinner & Alan Woodbine winning well before Simon Gregory made it 4-0 on the black. The experienced Roy Blewitt reduced the deficit in the final frame.

Amblecote RBL B, a week on from winning at Norton, won 4-1 at Stourbridge Inst C to move to within 5 points of the leaders with a game in hand. Graham Holdnall, Steve Ball and his sons, Jack & Sam, won four well-contested frames before Harry Jones earned a point for the home team.

Amblecote Inst D just got the better of their C team when Rob Jeffries took the deciding frame, handing Mark Colbourne his first defeat.
