HANNAH Payton heads for Shrewsbury this Sunday looking to wrap up the National Trophy Series title.

The Kingswinford cyclo cross star goes into the final round as clear favourite and her father and coach Kevin Payton claimed: “A top five finish will probably be good enough, but Hannah will be going for broke, she would like to win the title in style, but we’re taking nothing for granted, anything could happen.”

Hannah laid the foundation for claiming the title by winning the previous Series event in Bradford.

She kept herself ticking over during the festive period by winning the Western League race at Gloucester last Sunday. Hannah came home a convicning winner ahead of Welsh rider Ffion James from Abergavenny.

Kevin Payton also got in on the act by woinning the Over 50s race following a thrilling battle with another Abergavenny rider Graham Edwards, Payton getting the better of their tussle in the closing stages.

Just for good measure, brother Tom Payton, who competes under the banner of Islabikes, finished third in the Senior Men’s race where victory went to John Whittington of Team Diabetes, reversing a previous result when Tom Payton beat him at Bradford.

The Payton family will again be out in full force at Shrewsbury, along with Stourbridge CC’s promising junior rider Anthony Neave.
