DRIVERS from Stourbridge and Halesowen are set to be in rally action this weekend.

The Stourbridge pairing of Steve Deeley and Alan Proundman have just started their first full season competing in the BTRDA rally championship.

During the first event in the championship last month, the Weir Engineering Wyedean Forest Rally, they climbed to an incredible 81st position overall from a lowly starting position of 136.

In the Malcolm Wilson Rally on Saturday, which is the second championship round, they will again be out in their diminutive Peugeot 205 as they aim to gain valuable competitive experience whilst evaluating the tweaks that have been made to the car.

Also out during this event will be Halesowen's John Connor partnering Steve Black in a Suzuki Swift. The pairing finished 39th overall and seventh in their class in the Wyedean event.

Quinton Motor club member, Colin Watson, finds himself out on the Epynt military ranges to the west of Brecon competing in the first round of the MSA National Asphalt rally championship on Sunday. He will be partnering Paul Clapham in a Peugeot 106. Andrew Barlow, from Redditch, will also be in the same competition alongside Nik Artly in an infamous Ford Escort RS2000.
