HIMLEY Cricket Club's young guns and stalwarts have been honoured at the Midlands Club Cricket Conference in Edgbaston.

On the playing side, Jamie Turner – currently playing in Australia – and Ryan Brown shared the MCCC’s Under 21 Cricketer of the Year award for their performances in the Birmingham and District Premier League, while Ollie Westbury scooped the Alec Hastilow Trophy as the most promising Under 16 player.

Among the administrators, Greg White, creator and organiser of the annual Black Country T20 Floodlit competition – a format which has subsequently spread to several areas – was honoured for raising the profile of club cricket in the Black Country.

Himley Juniors’ chairman Guy Whittaker picked up the Halesowen Trophy for his contribution to junior cricket over the years, while club treasurer Steve Walker brought home the Tiny Wildsmith Club Person of the Year award for the work he continues to do for Himley and the sport in general.
