STOURBRIDGE Rugby Club's under 12s were left frustrated that the defence of their North Mids Cup crown was settled by the toss of a coin, but then recovered to win the North Mids Plate final.

The travelled to Bromsgrove RFC on Sunday, March 16 hoping to repeat their undefeated exploits of the previous year when they were crowned North Mid Cup winners.

They found themselves in a difficult pool with last year's Plate winners Wolverhampton, Droitwich and Ledbury.

Victories against Droitwich and Ledbury and a 0-0 draw with Wolverhampton meant that progress to the cup semi final would be settled on the toss of a coin, with both Stourbridge and Wolverhampton being undefeated and conceding no tries.

Heartbreakingly for the Under 12s, Wolverhampton won the toss of the coin and progressed in the competition, leaving Stourbridge to pick themselves up and compete for the Plate.

They made it to the final where they overcame Worcester Warriors to win by a single try in the last minute of play.
