NATHAN Greaves insists he will relax and enjoy the experience of riding in the British Under-21 Final on his home track next Tuesday.

Greaves, 16, is in his second season with Cradley Heathens, whose adopted home ground at Monmore Green, Wolverhampton, will host the prestigious event on Tuesday, April 15.

The talented teenager won a call-up to the meeting following the withdrawal of reigning champion Robert Branford.

And Greaves says it’s only right after narrowly missing out on automatic qualification in the semi-final at Plymouth last month.

“I should have qualified that night to be honest,” said Greaves. “But I was just a bit unlucky I think, so I’m pleased to have got the call.

“I’m determined to do well but I know what a tough meeting it will be. It’s the biggest meeting I will have raced in so far and it’s nice to know the Cradley fans will be behind me.

“But I’m not going to put any pressure on myself, I’m just going to go out there and enjoy it and see what I can do.

“I want to thank the Cradley fans for their support, I had a bad night last week against Coventry with bike problems and I’ve since had loads of messages from the supporters telling me to keep my chin up. I appreciated them.

“Hopefully I will have a good meeting next Tuesday but the main factor is to enjoy the experience.”

Greaves’ Heathens team-mate Tom Perry also figures in the meeting along with former club favourite Ashley Morris and Dan Greenwood, who won the National League title last season.

Normal admission prices apply for the event but Cradley season tickets are not valid. Prices are £11 adults, £8 concessions, £2 children and a special one-off programme will be available for £3.

LINE-UP: Nathan Greaves (CRADLEY), Adam Ellis, Joe Jacobs, James Sarjeant, Tom Perry (CRADLEY), Kyle Howarth, Ashley Morris, Robert Lambert, Josh Bates, Stefan Nielsen, James Shanes, Marc Owen, Dan Greenwood, Connor Coles, Jason Garrity, Jack Kingston.

The Heathens were due to face King's Lynn in the first leg of the National Shield at Monmore Green last night.
