MAX Clegg is hoping to see Cradley colleague Tom Perry back in action soon.

Clegg has spent a lot of time with Perry so far this season as both are also racing for Leicester.

But Perry is facing a month out of the saddle with a broken collarbone sustained when making a guest appearance for Ipswich last week.

Clegg said: "I'm enjoying riding with Tom - he's a fast rider who has a lot of experience on the track.

"He's easy to ride with really and we can hopefully build up a good partnership as the season goes on.

"It's a shame to see him get injured but hopefully he can recover quickly so we can start riding together and getting heat advantages again for Cradley and Leicester."

Clegg is one of only three riders left in the Heathens side which won everything available to them in the National League last season.

He admits it’s a lot to ask to match the achievements of 2013 – but the current Cradley side has the potential.

He said: "Obviously we had a lot to live up to after how well we did last year, but personally I think we've managed to pick up where we left off.

"The meeting against Buxton was a brilliant team performance, and we've had some big wins already this season.

"We are riding well and the team spirit we've got already is great. Just like last year we've got a really strong team and some great guys, so hopefully we can do just as well again.

"We know it's going to be difficult and a lot can happen but it's been a really good start and we are all feeling confident.

"I think we should be able to carry on the same way.”

The Heathens were due to face rivals Mildenhall last night in the first leg of the Knockout Cup. They will travel for the away leg this Sunday.

The next home meeting at Monmore will take place on Tuesday, May 27 when they welcome a powerful Kent side in the National League.
