ATHLETES from Dudley Kingswinford Running Club claiming a number of prizes with impressive performances last weekend.

The blue hoops registered a team in the British Masters Road Relays Championships on Saturday. The event was held at a sun-drenched Sutton Park and attracted teams from around the country.

Altrincham AC, Les Croupiers from South Wales and Salford Harriers claimed the medals in the M35 age group. DK finished 32nd on the day, their six legs of three miles taking a total of 1.58.32, with Phil Smith clocking 20.17, Mark Judge 20.27, Dave Norman 18.50, Richard Jones 19.49, Graham Wildgoose 19.54 and Gary Bonner in 19.15.

Twenty four hours later a small group of DK runners travelled the short distance towards Hagley for the Cobra Classic 10k event.

Dave Norman was first back in 13th place in 42.38 in his second race of the weekend. Graham Wildgoose claimed the first MV50 place in 23rd in 45.36, Helen Tromans also claimed an age group prize bagging first FV40 in 24th place in 45.59, Mark Homer finished in 47.26 for 29th place, Mark Judge was 38th in 49.25, Carol Fisher was first FV50 and 59th overall in 55.00 and Debbie Richards was 82nd in 1.02.22.

Elsewhere, Preston Grundy completed the Wenlock Olympian Society Marathon in 7.16.57. Taking on the shorter version, Dave Hickman was 25th in 2.03.46 to claim the first MV50 medal and Dave Fennell finished in 2.04.35 in 29th place to claim the MV50 second place.
