Stour runners in action

TWENTY five runners from Stourbridge Running Club took part in the recent Hagley 10k race on May 18.

Robert Colman was first home for the club in the multi terrain race with a 22nd place finish out of 157 runners with a time of 40:57. Next was Kevin Burke who came 25th overall with 41:18 but come first in the M50 category.

Chris Blake came 27th with 41:34 and Adam Crompton 48th with 44:09.

The next race in the series is organised by Bromsgrove and Redditch Athletic Club and is at Redditch and incorporates the Worcestershire Multi Terrain Championships.

The recent Bulmers Bash, held at Wichenford, Worcestershire, is an undulating 6.5 mile off road course through the orchards of Bulmers.

Joan CLarke won the female over 55 category. Chris Blake narrowly missed out on a medal when coming fifth out of 92 runners with a time of 41:39. Steven Burch came 21st with 48:55 and Philip Elwell 44th with 53:56.

The White Peak Marathon, held in Matlock, Derbyshire recently had two runners taking part from the club. Duncan Cornish finish 52nd with a time of 3:51:33 and Anthony Homer 53rd with 3:51:35.

Cornish is now going to run on August 23 in the 130 mile Liverpool to Leeds canal race. He's running it in memory of his late father David Cornish who sadly passed away recently.

He is raising money for FORCE - a cancer charity. Training is well underway for this ultra marathon. Anyone wishing to support Duncan may have to get up early as the race starts at 4am.

The annual Stourbridge Stumble will be held on Saturday, August 9 at Mary Stevens Park, Stourbridge.
