NITESH Patel showed his qualities with the bad as Old Hill claimed a winning draw against Ombersley last Saturday.

They set about posting an imposing total after being put into bad by their visitors for the Birmingham Premier League Division One fixture.

Number three Patel made 121 to help his side reach 258 for their innings. He was well supported by Dannyjo Cox, who made 38, and Dan Brosnan, who hit 37.

Oliver Uffindall was the pick of the Ombersley bowlers as he took three wickets despite going for 48 runs.

Ombersley's tasked appeared a tough one when they lost opener Tom Oakley when he was trapped lbw from the bowling of Toby Lester.

However, a good 61 from number three Jason Smith and a solid 42 from Duncan Catterall in the middle of the order left Old Hill frustrated.

They managed to see off their remaining overs without losing their last wicket to end with 205-9.

Meanwhile, in division two, Halesowen claimed a vital victory against Tamworth.

They won at Seth Somers Park by six wickets after winning the toss and electing to bowl.

The impressive Faisal Shahid wasted no time in getting into the Tamworth batsmen as he had opener Neil Orton caught by Joseph Tromans just just one.

A solid 34 from fellow Tamworth opener Jack Manuel and 55 from Michael Talbot helped the visitors make 190 for the loss of 8 wickets for their 55 overs.

Halesowen chased down the total for the loss of just four wickets.

Tarryck Gabriel and Kester Moseley laid a solid foundation before that man Shahid hit a half century to help secure the win.
