STOURBRIDGE boxer Steven Pearce can’t wait to take on one of the country’s top prospects live on television now he has returned from an injury lay-off.
The International Masters Welterweight Champion takes on undefeated welterweight Bradley Skeete at York Hall live on BoxNation on Wednesday, July 16.
The 29-year-old is back in action for the first time since his narrow British Masters defeat to Ryan Hardy in March.
After that fight, Pearce complained of chest pains and was put on a course of antibiotics. Now, fully recovered, he is ready to prove that he is capable of missing it with the best in Britain.
“I’m happy to get back in the ring after my chronic chest inflammation,” said Pearce. “I want to prove I belong in the top ten of Britain. A good performance could open doors for me.
“Skeete is one of the hottest prospects in the country and I have a lot of respect for his talent. I’ve trained hard for this one though and I’m ready to to show what I can do and showcase my skills live on BoxNation. This will help raise my profile.
“To be fighting at York Hall on such a big show is an honour."
