DUDLEY Kingswinford Running Club was represented at the Midlands Counties Cross Country Open Meeting at Wolverhampton and Bilston’s Aldersley Stadium.

In the women’s event over a three lap, five mile course, Sally McConville took 55th place in 48.03, Lisa Newell was 61st in 49.20 and Meg Dowen finished in 51.44 for 64th position. Unfortunately, with four runners needed to score, they were unable to record a team position as other team members dropped out due to injury.

In the team event, Tipton Harriers claimed victory by a mere five points from Wolverhampton and Bilston who took silver and Northbrook AC claiming bronze.

In the men’s race, over four laps covering a stamina sapping seven miles, Ben Foster finished in 13th in 42.04, Kevin Duckworth was 45th in 45.54, Dave Norman was 82nd in 49.28, James Wright was 90th in 50.09, Keith Bate was 94th in 51.31, Simon Hughes was 107th in 53.31, Graham Wildgoose was 112th in 53.42, Mark Judge was 114th in 54.00 and Mark Homer was 121st in 55.21. The team event was won by a very strong Notts AC squad from Cannock and Stafford taking second. Hosts Wolverhampton and Bilston finished in third. DK’s men's team claimed eighth place out of the 16 teams competing.
