BOSS Ian Long is targeting a win this Saturday to secure Tividale's best run of form this season.

Tivi went unbeaten in their first four games to take 10 points out of a possible 12. They have now reached that mark once more after a great festive period.

Wins against Sutton Coldfield and Chasetown and a draw at Coalville were all backed up with another three points last weekend away to Loughborough Dynamo.

It means a draw or win at home to Stockbridge this Saturday would make it Tividale's best run of the campaign.

Long said: "We have that added incentive this Saturday to better our previous run. I want to win it at home and continue to build on what we have already achieved.

"It has been great to return to the form we had at the start of the season."

However, Long said his team would need to improve on the levels they showed at Loughborough.

"It is good to win when not playing to our top form but we won't get away with that again," added Long. "The results have been consistent but now our performances need to be the same to make sure this run goes on."

Against Loughborough, long was again forced to make changes to the personnel and formation to the side with Deqwon Ebanks ill and new signing Jean-Michel Gueyes unavailable. David Bellis returned to the centre of midfield alongside Andy Parsons, with Karl Edwards brought in to lead the line.

Tividale started the brighter and Andy Parsons will feel he should have done better on 15 minutes when he fired Zach Foster’s cross over the bar.

Foster then had an effort himself a couple of minutes later but again it did not trouble home keeper Joe McCormack.

On 25 minutes, Tividale took a deserved lead when they broke and Leigh Downing played in Edwards who put the ball through McCormack's legs and into the back of the net.

The scores were level at the break, however, when Joe Pheasant’s thumping header from a corner gave Price no chance.

The opening minutes of the second half was a much more even affair and chances were at a premium, the best for Tividale was an Edwards shot that sailed wide.

Tivi retook the lead mid-way through the second half when Danny Ashton beat Dynamo full back Carl Sibson and his cross was met by Leigh Downing who’s shot beat McCormack despite the keepers effort to keep it out.

The points were secured in injury time when substitute Jordan Archer outpaced his marker and slid the ball past the advancing McCormack.

Ian Long's men were due to face Sporting Khalsa at The Beeches last night in the JW Hunt Cup. The game is a repeat of last season's final that Tivi won 2-1.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Jack Hayfield has left the club to rejoin Tipton Town. He was been replaced in the squad by former Halesowen stopper Paul Evans.
