LEAGUE leaders Gornal Athletic will look to underline their promotion intent when they welcome fourth-placed Ellesmere Rangers to Garden Walk.

The Peacocks were first set to face Bolehall Swifts in cup action last night before looking to maintain their seven league game unbeaten run against Rangers this Saturday.

Manager Andy Wyton is keen to play the game after last Saturday's match at Shifnal Town fell victim to the weather.

He said: "We go into the game full of confidence and want to show our intent against a team also at the top end of the table.

"It should be a good game because both teams like to get the ball down and play football.

"The weather postponements could take their toll on the teams around us when they have to play three games a week at the end of the season. It would be an important win at home and the sort of result that would put us in a good position to build on what we have already done."

Wyton confirmed that the signing of a right winger was imminent at Garden Walk and that he is still on the lookout for extra firepower to provide competition to this existing forwards.
