WOLLASTON Lawn Tennis Club held its first competitive event of 2015.

With Valentine's Day falling on a Saturday, the club decided to celebrate the day with a mixed tournament for its members.

Members competed in a round-robin mixed-doubles event, with each pair playing in a 'best of seven games' rubbers.

Thankfully the weather stayed fine throughout nearly four hours of tennis, which proved to be both competitive, and a lot of fun.

The tournament, which was wide open from start to finish, was won by Dave Tranter and Jane Armstrong, with Chris James and Pam Cartwright close behind in second place.

Chairman John Cutler said “It was great to see so many taking part in this event, one of the main aims at Wollaston is to be a friendly inclusive club, so we’re always looking for new events for members to take part in. With Valentine’s Day falling on a Saturday it seemed only right to mark the day with mixed tournament."
