CAUSEWAY United edged themselves further from the Midland Football League drop zone with a thumping win over Westfields.

United smashed six goals post their mid-table opposition at The Grove last Saturday.

First half strikes from Scott Stevenson, Jack Pearlman and Alex Cowley saw Causeway take a 3-0 lead into the break.

Sam Beasley then made it 4-0 just two minutes into the second half before Matthew Poyner and substitute Joel Ayettey completed the scoring.

Scott Jackson hit a late consolation for the visitors as the game ended 6-1 to Mark Jones' men.

The victory moves Causeway up to 16th on 32 points.

They will look to build on the win this week. They were set to welcome basement boys Dunkirk to The Grove last night before hosting Boldmere St Michaels this Saturday.
