FEARS that Causeway United could be made homeless by landlords Halesowen Town have now been quashed.

United currently share The Grove with the Yeltz but had been approached by their hosts in the hope their groundshare agreement could be terminated.

It led to a spell of uncertainty for United while they sought to resolve the situation.

However, following a meeting with Hales owner Steve Lynch last week, Causeway will now be staying at the ground for the foreseeable future.

United boss Mark Jones said: "The club signed a seven year lease agreement with Halesowen Town to share the ground and we have only been there for two years.

"As far as we are concerned we will be there until that agreement runs out. The clubs met and cleared up the matter,

"It is good to get it resolved so we can move forwards. From our point of view, we like it at The Grove and don't want to move anywhere else."

United's general secretary Frank Webb added: "We are just glad the situation has been clarified.

"The pressure is on Halesowen to protect their pitch, but they now understand the obligation they also have to us.

"We have a good relationship with Halesowen Town and want to keep it that way. We can now move forwards knowing where we will be playing our football."

It is believed that the groundshare issue arose due to concerns about the state of the playing surface at the ground in Old Hawne Lane.

Yeltz chairman Colin Brookes said: "I was not part of the discussions but understand that the reason the matter has come up is because of the pitch.

"It is not in a good condition and we have already stopped our youth teams and our women's team from playing there.

"Another factor is that Halesowen have recently launched a new academy scheme. We want those youngsters to be able to use the pitch when they need to as well.

"I believe those two factors are why Causeway were approached. That said, the people at Causeway are good people and we are happy for them to be here. If they have a lease agreement then we have to honour that."
