HALAS Hawks Girls Under-16s are set for a busy end to the season.

They have two finals and one semi-final as an impressive campaign draw to a close.

First they will take on Kinver Colts in the John Rocelle Cup final next Tuesday. The game will be at Lye Town Football Club, Stourbridge Road, at 7.30pm.

Then, on Friday, April 24, they play in the league cup final against Kewford Eagles. That will take place at the Dell Stadium at 7.30pm.

The girls are also in the semi-final of the Merit Shied in May as well as having four league matches left to play as they chase title glory.

If we win all four games they will win the league.

It has already been a good season for the Hawks after reaching the semi-final of the FA County Cup in February where they were eventually knocked out by Coventry City Ladies.

Manager David Thomas said: "Last season we finished bottom of the league and bottom of the cup league. We made it to no semi-finals or finals, and we limped through the season with just twelve players in our squad. We then lost four of our most experienced players when the season ended. Most teams would have folded for sure.

"We picked ourselves up, acquired two new new coaches, found some new players and moved on.

"The girls have been amazing all year, and I'm thrilled to say that they have made it through to two cup finals so far.

"My ambition at the start of this season was to simply do better than last year and finish above bottom of the league, but the girls have exceeded everyone's expectations.

"We haven't won a trophy yet, but we are mighty close. Whatever happens the girls are already winners, and have learned so much about hard work and determination."
