GARY Hackett has now finalised the core of his Stourbridge squad after a host of familiar faces committed for next season.

The Glassboys have moved to secure the services of 11 of last season's side to work alongside the six recent arrivals at Amblecote.

Chris Knight, Leon Broadhurst, Kayleden Brown, Chris Lait, Matt Dodd, Luke Connolly, Sam Tye, Lewis McPike, Junior Smikle, Lewis Solly and Drew Canavan have all been retained.

They join new faces in defenders Dan Scarr, Kristian Green and Stuart Pierpoint, midfielders Tom Tonks and Lee Chilton and goalkeeper Charlie Price to form the basis of next season's Northern Premier League squad.

The group will return to the War Memorial Ground for pre-season training on July 4.

Hackett said: "We now have the basis of next season's squad for when pre-season gets underway.

"I am pleased to have kept a core group of the team from last year. The key was adding to them in the right areas, which is something we have already done.

"Those players are fully aware that we under achieved last season and they are all very motivated to hit the ground running to put that right."

Hackett also confirmed he is still working hard to add more players before the campaign gets underway.

"There will be more arrivals in time for the new season," added the manager.

"We are still searching and are currently speaking to a few potential additions.

"It is early days and we still have plenty of time to add to those we have already brought in."

Meanwhile, Hackett still doesn't know if Luke Benbow will be at Amblecote next season and is still waiting to hear if he will take up the offer to stay with the Glassboys.
