STAND-IN skipper Matt Williamson insists Cradley have what it takes to win a cup double before the end of October.

The Heathens have finished third in the National League after a brilliant win at Stoke on Sunday, but now face semi-finals in the Gold Cup and Knockout Cup.

They go up against league champions Birmingham at Perry Barr next Wednesday in the home leg of their Gold Cup clash with a bumper crowd expected.

And they will face King’s Lynn in the Knockout Cup semi-finals next month.

Said Williamson: “Our season is far from over, we still have it all to race for.

“It was an amazing effort at the weekend to pick up four points from two away meetings and we’ve finished third, which is a respectable effort.

“But we still have the opportunity to push hard for cup double and I see no reason why we cannot achieve that.

“Will Pottinger did a great job with his tactics at the weekend and if we can stick together and do the job we know we’re capable of then we can win things.

“It promises to be an exciting end to the season, but I certainly feel we have it in us to win the cups.”

Williamson returned to top form at Coventry and Stoke at the weekend and feels he has found where the problem was.

“It’s been a good season but since having that big crash for Workington a couple of weeks ago I’ve struggled slightly, but when I was warming the bikes up at Coventry I had a brainwave and figured out what the problem was. It seems I got to the bottom of the issue, I had much more speed and I was back to my best so it was a great afternoon for me.

“We’ve still got some big meetings left over the rest of the season, so I’m desperate to be at my best and hopefully I can help us win some silverware.”

Meanwhile the club’s end of season presentation night is selling well at The Venue, High Street, Dudley, on Saturday, November 7. Tickets are available for £10 standard or £25 to include a meal in the restaurant between 5-7pm and reserved priority seating for the awards. Tickets are available from the club shop Printworx, Market Place, in Cradley Heath or online via the www.cradley heathens.co. website.
