LYE Town boss Martin Thomas says his players will need no motivation ahead of this Saturday's FA Vase derby clash with Cradley Town.

Thomas and joint boss Darren Goodall gave their players Tuesday night off training this week after they complained of tiredness after last Saturday's 3-0 success over Brocton.

However, Thomas says his team will be fully prepared for the cup showdown this weekend and thinks his players were more mentally jaded following last Tuesday's 4-1 defeat at Hereford.

"I think they player put a lot into the Hereford game and were a little jaded by the fact they didn't get a result," said the boss.

"The Brocton result was pleasing because it was important that we bounced straight back. I think we did that when at about 70 per cent as well."

Goals from Ben Wilkins, Tom Overfield and a penalty from James Spray ensured Lye took the points from Brocton.

Thomas thinks Saturday's cup clash at Stourbridge Road (3pm) is set to be a close encounter.

"There will be nothing in it," he said. "League and form go out of the window.

"I won't have to say anything to the players before it. After the break this week they will be fully prepared. It's a big game and one we are looking forward to."

Thomas also confirmed he is talking to a defender and midfielder about linking up with his squad.
