STOURBRIDGE are up to fourth place in the Northern Premier League as their fine form continued with a 2-0 away win at Colwyn Bay on Tuesday night.

A goal each for experienced forwards Karl Hawley and Justin Richards handed the Glassboys back-to-back wins on the road following last Saturday’s success at Hyde United.

It means Stour have won seven of their last ten games.

Manager Gary Hackett said: “I’m delighted that we have 24 points on the board at this stage of the season. It means the foundations have been laid for what could be a very good season, but no more than that.

“We won’t be getting carried away because we know there will be a lot of twists and turns still to come.

Last season showed just how tough this league can be and even though we have moved on it is important we don’t forget it.

“It took the squad time to gel at the start of the season, like I knew it would, but now they are a good unit and playing with confidence. The defence has also been very good in recent games as well. We just need to keep working hard.”

Hackett was also full of praise for how Hawley and Richards are linking up in attack for the Glassboys.

“People will look at their age but they have kept themselves in great nick and have that finishing ability,” he added.

“We had to sell the club to them before they came but now they are doing their part on the pitch.”

Stourbridge will be looking to maintain their good run in Saturday’s vital FA Cup clash at home to Black Country rivals Rushall Olympic (3pm).

“Saturday is a massive game for us so it's pleasing we can go into it on the back of a good run,” said the boss.

“It is a tough draw for both teams. I have a lot of respect for the way Rushall and the way the club is run, as well as their manager Richard Sneekes. Our games are always close affairs and form will go out of the window at the weekend.”

Stour will then return to league action just two days later when they welcome Sutton Coldfield Town to the War memorial Ground on Monday night (7.45pm).
