TIVIDALE manager Ross Thorpe admitted a mad 10 minutes cost his side victory against Leek Town this week.

The Packwood Road side found themselves 2-0 within 13 minutes against Leek after Niall Maguire and Tim Grice netted.

Try as they might, Tividale could repair the damage despite Chris Sterling pulling a goal back in the 77th minute as title chasing Leek held onto win 2-1.

Thorpe claimed: "We didn't defend well enough in the first half, which left us with a big ask and we just couldn't get that second goal."

The result means Tividale continue to prop up Northern Premier League Division One South but Thorpe said. "We've been digging in well during the past few games and showing plenty of character. There were plenty of positives to take out of the game."

Tividale travel to Sheffield FC this Saturday, the hosts laying claim to be the oldest football club in the world and Thorpe confirmed:

"We can't afford another mad 10 minutes like we had against Leek. We've got to get back to basics. Because we're bottom of the league, the pressure is on the other clubs to beat us!
