VETERAN players from Stourbridge Rugby Club turned out in force at the weekend to pay tribute to some of their former team mates who have since passed away.
Stourbridge Grasshoppers staged a memorial competition at their Stourton Park headquarters.
Event organiser Jason Sykes, a former skipper of the Grasshoppers said:"The competition went so well, that we'll do it on an annual basis from now on, to take place on the same week as Remembrance Sunday.
"We've lost people like Paul Harvey, Rod Poulton, Stevie Powers and Roger Williamson. I told our new chairman Robin Edwards that if he got elected, I would do something in memory of our past players who are no longer with us."
Teams from Stourbridge Grasshoppers, Kidderminster Veterans, a Barbarians side made up of Stourbridge players plus Alcester Seconds, who took part at short notice, contested the event, where Kidderminster came out on top by beating Alcester 7-0 in the final.
