DUDLEY southpaw Ryan Aston experienced defeat in his attempt to claim the IBF International light middleweight crown last weekend.

The Priory Park pugilist’s dream was dashed as he lost in six rounds against Ahmet Patterson as the 24-year-old stepped up in class live on BoxNation last Friday.

The 12-round clash at York Hall, Bethnal Green, London, ended early as the Tank was put to the canvas in the fifth round and again in the sixth.

A cagey start to the clash eventually saw Patterson begin to assert his authority.

Though the Dudley man came fighting back, he was initially floored with a powerful right hook in the fifth.

A low blow then had him down again one round later before a three-punch combination ended matters as the referee intervened.

Defeat for Aston comes after failed attempts to claim the Midlands crown at light middleweight and middleweight.

He lost a controversial points decision against fellow Black Country fighter Jason Welborn last year before bouncing back with three straight wins and will now be looking for a similar response.
