LYE Town are looking to book a cup final place with victory over Walsall Wood tonight.

Lye go to Walsall for the second leg of the Midland Football League’s Premier Division league cup semi-final.

The sides drew 2-2 in the first leg leaving it all to play for when they meet again at Oak Park.

Town chairman Brian Blakemore is confident his side have what it takes to come out on top.

He said: “We are expecting a very tough game. Defensively they are pretty strong and both teams are in a similar position in the league.

“But there is no reason we can’t go there and win. We are very positive.

“We were somewhat disappointed that we didn’t win the first leg.”

Lye warmed up for the cup clash in perfect fashion thanks to a 5-1 league win against Barden Hill on Tuesday night.

Doubles from Ben Billingham and Dan Flowers and a strike from Arnold Chapondra saw the hosts bag the spoils. The win followed a 0-0 draw at Long Eaton last Saturday.

Billingham’s parent club Stourbridge were set to recall him until he picked up an ankle injury last week, but he’s now available to complete the season with Lye.
