HAGLEY have made a storming start to their Worcester County League Division One campaign with a crushing 131 success over local rivals Oldswinford and Stourbridge Social.

James Spavin struck top score of 65 as Hagley reached 226 all out.

Oldswinford were then reduced to 95 all out in reply despite hanging on for 48 overs, Hagley skipper Neil Hurst snapping up four for 32 with his off-spin while Aussie overseas player Michael Stead took four for 28.

Pedmore perished by 103 runs when they opened against Worcester CC.

That was after Worcester had been restricted to 172 all out - before Pedmore promptly plummeted to just 69 in reply after Clark Knapton claimed stunning figures of six for 10.

Aussie overseas player Matt Heberle provided 25 runs for Pedmore but there was precious little support and skipper James Burgoyne said: "We had Worcester at 70 for seven at one stage but then their tailenders hit out and they probably got 50 to 60 more runs than they should have.

"In the end it didn't matter as everyone struggled with the bat."

Pedmore's prospects haven't been helped as batsman Paul Pickering and seam bowler Chris Bourne both have shoulder injuries which could rule them out for most of the season.

Belbroughton breezed to a four wicket win over Stourport after chasing down a total of 188 for five with two overs to spare.

Ross Parker struck a quickfire 37 while Ryan Price provided 33.

Ben Hawker had earlier bagged the key wickets of Stourport's overseas player Kevin Renecke and Andy Siwicki who has joined them from top flight club Kidderminster Victoria.

Belbroughton have boosted their ranks by recruiting Australian all-rounder James Wilson.

Lye look set to be leading players in Division Two this season after they crushed Coombs Wood by 153 runs.

Skipper Azhar Naeem led from the front with 64 not out while Kamran Mehram kept him company with 76 as Lye reached a huge total of 321 for seven.

Coombs Wood were then removed for 168 all out in reply after Aziz Rehman snapped up six wickets.

Lye have switched this Saturday's home game with Redditch to Walsall Grange Cricket Club owing to their groundshare with Lye Football Club.

Enville made an awful start when crashing to a 211 run reverse against Division Two rivals Chaddesley Corbett.

Bilal Hassan hammered 133 as Chaddesley compiled a massive 339 for five before Enville were then removed to 128 all out in reply.
