OLD Hill chairman Bob Jones says he is looking forward to this Saturday’s clash with rivals Himley at Haden Hill.

Both sides are still looking for their first win of the season ahead of this weekend’s Division One contest (noon start).

“It is always a big game when Himley arrive,” he said. “Hopefully we get good weather and a big crowd.

“There is links between the two sides as a lot of people now involved with the club used to play here.

“The fact both sides still need their first win of the season will add some spice to the occasion.”

Old Hill missed out under the Duckworth-Lewis system last Saturday when their game at Smethwick was hit by bad weather once again.

However, it was a defeat that still highlighted the class of Monil Patel (107) as the all-rounder bagged a fine century in difficult conditions.

Old Hill ended their innings on 182 before Smethwick reached 120-4 from 35 overs when the rain arrived.

Jones said: “We had a difficult start but Monil showed how good he is and worked his way into the game. Dan Brosnan and Jehangir Baig did well to stick around with him.

“I think we were still in it when the rain came.”

Patel continued his form with 185 from 137 balls in the Staffs County Cup win over Cannock last Sunday.
