TIVIDALE hope to appoint a new boss by the start of June, says club secretary Leon Murray.

Manager Phil Male stepped down at the end of the season following relegation back to the Midland Football League.

Male was joint-manager with Ross Thorpe, until the latter left mid-way through the season.

The Dale are now in the hunt for a new boss and Murray has been pleased with the response they have had.

“We have so far had eight applications and four other interested parties,” he said.

“The aim now is to cut the applicants to a short list of five or six to interview.

“We want to speak to people in the next couple of weeks and have a new manager in place at the beginning of June.

“Once we have the new man in we can then start to see what he wants and how we can build for next season.”

Murray says he has yet to be approached by any of the players to say they want to leave the club.

Goalkeeper Tom Turner has even said that he’d be keen to be involved next term.

“I am yet to hear from anyone about what they intend to do,” added Murray.

“A lot will all depend on the new boss. A lot of players will be waiting to see what happens with that situation.”
