HAGLEY moved into second place in Division One of the Worcestershire County League with victory at Cookley last Saturday.

The visitors secured a four-wicket win after winning the toss and putting the hosts in to bat.

Cookley opener Paul Thomas top scored with 90 before being caught off the bowling of Joe Lennon.

Fellow opener Jaimen Rudd (61) and number three Jonathan Stanaway (43) also contributed with the bat.

But Hagley managed to power through the lower order to keep the hosts to 250-9 from their 50 overs.

Though openers Lennon (29) and Simon Burgess (26) failed to build on their starts, a knock of 84 from Michael Stead and 75 from James Spavin helped Hagley chase down their target by the final over.

They will welcome Burghill, Tillington and Weobley this Saturday (1pm start).

Meanwhile, a spirited Belbroughton display was not enough to prevent new table-toppers Colwall prevailing at Hackman’s Gate.

Batting first, Belbroughton finished on 193 all out, 58 registered by Ryan Price. Wehan Joubert was the pick of the visitors’ bowling, taking 5-46.

Colwall were able to edge over the line in the last over with eight wickets down. Their task was helped by after 75 from Tom Coleman.

Belbroughton seconds were soundly beaten by eight wickets in the reverse fixture, whilst the thirds were also second best to Netherton.

Pedmore bagged their first win of the season with success at home to Worcester Nomads.

Despite their top order failing to fire, they made 209-9 from their 50 overs thanks to 46 from Matthew Porter, who came in at nine.

They then bowled Worcester out for 203 in the final over to take the points. Daniel Such was the star bowler, taking four wickets for 22 runs.

Pedmore go to Bewdley this Saturday (1pm).

Oldswinford and Stourbridge Social remain bottom of the league but did record their first win with victory at Stourport-on-Severn. They bowled Stourport out for 205 after winning the toss and electing to field.

They reached their target in the 48th over for the loss of four wickets.

They will go to Worcester this Saturday.

In Division Two, Enville lost by seven wickets against Bromyard. They will welcome Evesham this Saturday (1pm).

Lye are one place below ninth-placed Enville after defeat at Evesham. They will look to hit back when welcoming Bredon on Saturday (1pm).
