DUDLEY’S Hartshill Strollers are celebrating after winning the inaugural Kidderminster Harriers Community Walking Football Tournament.

Their A team lifted the trophy after narrowly beating Beechcroft, now re-named Birmingham, on goal difference.

The B team finished third.

The six-team tournament, which took place at Baxter College Kidderminster, also involved Kidderminster Yellows, Kidderminster Reds and Hindlip.

Hartshill’s B team helped to mould the eventual nail-biting outcome by holding Beechcroft/Birmingham to a single goal victory.

This left the A team needing to beat Kidderminster Yellows by four clear goals to win the trophy on goal difference. They rose to the challenge magnificently – with an 8-0 win.

Goals came from hat-tricks for Andie Lissemore and Adrian Heath as well as strikes from Adrian Chilton and Eddie Tromans.

Nick Griffiths, football and community officer for Kidderminster Harriers, said: “We are very pleased with the number of entries and the standard of play in this inaugural tournament, supported by the Football Conference Trust. We hope to make this an annual event."
