STOURBRIDGE have secured key man Matt Dodd as their pre-season preparations continue to gather pace.

The flying Glassboys’ winger played a vital role in the club’s push for success last term and has once again committed to the War Memorial Ground outfit.

Stour fought off a host of other interested clubs to secure the wide-man.

He joins Junior Smikle, Kristian Green, Joe Hull, skipper Stuart Pierpoint, Tom Tonks, Leon Broadhurst, Justin Richards, goalkeeper Matt Gould, Dan Scarr and Chris Lait.

Manager Gary Hackett said: “Matt was a big player for us last season and I’m delighted to have him on-board.

“He missed the end of last season with injury but is back to full fitness now after working hard with physio Richard Drewett.

“We want to play exciting, attacking football and he is a big part of that.”

Meanwhile, the club are still set to announce three new arrivals to Amblecote in the coming days. A striker, midfielder and defender are all in the pipeline.

It had been hoped the signings would be completed last weekend, but an announcement has been delayed until all deals are finalised.

“Everything is now starting to come together nicely,” added the boss.

“With the players we already have, plus the new faces we will bring in, everything is falling into place. I’m pleased with how it is going.”

The Glassboys have arranged a pre-season clash with League One neighbours Shrewsbury Town. The friendly will be at home on Monday, July 25 (7.45pm).

Meanwhile, the club have moved to appoint Kieran Bustin as their new youth team manager.

Stour have appointed from within with Bustin stepping up to succeed Dave King, who has left to become first team boss at Tividale last week.
